The truth about links in comments

ActiveRain, as well as almost every other blog in the blogosphere, places "No Follow" tags on all comments within our network. That means that Google doesn't "see" the links left in comments.   So the only links getting Google Juice are the links in the blog postings.

We do this to discourage link spamming.

Just thought I would set the record straight on this.

If there's a "no follow" tag so that the search engines can't pick it up, can someone reading the comments still click through to the link?

Sharon, yes the links work.  We include the "no follow" tags specifically for search engines.
