I can't possibly imagine someone selling real estate without an iPhone! Especially a real estate blogger. I bought one a couple days ago and I don't think my life will ever be the same.
Technologically speaking I am typically a slow adopter and only start using the latest gadget when it becomes necessary. I don't usually buy the tech toys just for fun or to be the first person to have it. I didn't purchase a Blackberry or PDA phone until just a few months ago. The Blackberry also changed my life, or as my wife would put it "consumed me". But I say in a good way.
In terms of life changing, the iPhone is to the Blackberry, as the Blackberry is to a standard cellphone, as a standard cellphone is to a land line.
There is a certain "je ne sais qua", or unexplainable wow factor that goes along with most Apple products and is especially apparent with the iPhone. With that qualifier out of the way, here are some things I love about the iPhone.
- It is better at reading email than my blackberry. Makes setting up your email account and reading email a pleasure. You can actually view html emails and attachments! At least 1/4 of my emails I could not see before.
- I almost like browsing the web better on my iPhone than my computer. I am connected now in a way like never before. As the creation of hyper local real estate information (sites like localism) starts to speed up, being able to access this information in real time will become more and more important.
- I can access and read from my Google RSS reader just like a desktop. In the next few days I will post about how effectively using an RSS Reader can significantly increase your real estate business.
- 2 megapixel camera that snaps the picture with you release the button. This is actually very handy in synching up the timing.
- Google Maps are slick. Find any type of business in relation to you. And then browse right to their webpage or basic details provided by google maps.
- VOICEMAIL. Oh my gosh. I love it!! It is so easy to pick out and access just the voicemails that are important to you. Such a time saver.
- Zooming interface is spot on perfect. Touchscreen keyboard is much better than I expected.
- Built in Wifi. Super cool. Don't really need to explain why.
- Watch Video, not really necessary for real estate sales, but fun never the less.
